CONTROLLER FOR BATTERY CHARGING STATIONS
- Electric Vehicles are charged from outlets using charging units called Fast Chargers (FC)
- The FCs operate in either of the two modes:
- Stand-alone Mode
- Client – Sever Mode
- In Client –Server mode, several FC operations are controlled, maintained and monitored by a centralized server called Central System (CS)
- FCs use an internationally agreed upon protocol called the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) to connect to Central System. The connection to server is based on web-sockets
- When an FC is operating as a client, the OCPP protocol conversion and communication is taken care of by a local controller (LC). The controllers inside an FC, are called Charge Box (CB).
